Lockout! The Musical tells the story of six people who arrive late at a theatre, and must spend the first 10 minutes of the show waiting in the foyer.

Four friends on a night out.
A couple on a date night.
An usher with a stopwatch.

…and a velvet rope.

Some will see the lockout period as an opportunity. Some will see it as a curse. Some will do anything to get in.

This 10 minute show, which will be performed as part of the Sydney 2015 Short+Sweet Festival, is a homage to musical theatre while also having its tongue planted firmly in its cheek. LockOut! traverses the emotional range and story arc of the typical 2-hour musical in its 10 minutes and 5 songs.

From the plaintive opening number ‘The If We’d Only Made It on Time Song’, the show takes on a ballad at ‘The Unrequited Love Song’, before getting right into it with ‘The Punch Up Song’, picking up speed in ‘The Kaleidescopic Hedonistic Entertainment Song’ and breaking into a rousing chorus line finale in ‘The When We Get In Chorus’.
